WELCOME AT THE AIRPORT
Right when you arrive at your destination, we want to offer a warm welcome that puts your safety first. This includes mandatory face coverings for the on-site representatives greeting you and the application of social distancing measures.
1 | Your Air Canada Vacations representative greets you, wearing a face covering with other optional PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) items available such as gloves. |
2 | Our representative verifies your booking information to confirm your identity, destination, and which transfer you should board. |
3 | For your safety, you are assigned a boarding group in order to stagger the boarding process and respect social distancing measures. |
PRE-BOARDING
Before each transfer and after each overnight, the vehicle and all its high-touch areas are cleaned and sanitized with alcohol-based disinfectant products. Mandatory face coverings for all employees and travellers provide protection and safety for all.
1 | For your safety, all travellers are required to wear face coverings before boarding the vehicle. |
2 | For the safety of everyone, travellers are also required to handle their own luggage. If you need assistance, all our representatives will be wearing face coverings and other PPE items (gloves) in order to help you. |
3 | Complimentary hand sanitizer will be available before boarding and travellers will be required to sanitize their hands before entering the vehicle. |
ON BOARD
Aboard the vehicle, we’re blocking seats between passengers to make sure social distancing is maintained throughout the journey to the hotel or resort.
1 | The vehicle’s windows are thoroughly sanitized with an alcohol-based disinfectant to let you admire the landscape. |
2 | For improved safety, transfer vehicles will only travel at half-capacity to allow for empty seats between passengers, except those travelling together. |
3 | All seats, including armrests, seat belts and seat belt buckles on the vehicle are sanitized with an alcohol-based disinfectant so you can relax on your journey. |
4 | The overhead storage compartments are also sanitized to make sure your bags stay clean. |
5 | Before departure, our representative will share important information regarding your upcoming stay, giving travellers the option to skip the briefing usually given at their hotel or resort. |
6 | The drivers of each transfer vehicle are required to wear PPE items, including face coverings and gloves. |
ARRIVAL AT THE HOTEL OR RESORT
Once you have arrived at your destination, our representatives will continue to prioritize your safety by wearing face coverings and other PPE items when handling your luggage.
1 | Wearing face coverings and gloves, our representative will handle all luggage and place them somewhere secure in front of the hotel or resort, where travellers can safely pick them up while maintaining a safe social distance. |
2 | If travellers require assistance during their stay, they will be able to contact our representatives by phone or mobile messaging apps. Contact information will be provided during the on-board briefing. |

AIR CANADA RESPONDS TO TRANSPORT CANADA’S CLOSURE OF CANADIAN AIRSPACE TO THE BOEING 737 MAX AIRCRAFT
October 29, 2019
In compliance with Transport Canada’s safety notice closing Canadian airspace to Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operations, Air Canada has grounded its 24 737 MAX aircraft until further notice.
Air Canada is updating its schedule to further optimize its fleet and re-accommodate customers. Given the uncertainty about the timing of regulatory approvals for the return to service of the Boeing 737 MAX, we are removing the Boeing 737 MAX from our schedule to June 30, 2020 and will continue to update plans as required.
As such, Air Canada Vacations’ cancellation and rebooking policies are in place for affected customers. In collaboration with Air Canada, we are working to rebook impacted customers as soon as possible, but given the magnitude of Air Canada’s 737 MAX operations, customers can expect delays in rebooking and in reaching Air Canada Vacations’ call centres. We appreciate our customers’ patience.
Customers are further advised to check the status of their flight on aircanada.com prior to going to the airport.
What should I do right now?
As changes are finalized in the flight schedule, customers whose flight times or flight numbers have changed can verify this information on the Air Canada app or the “Flight Status” tab on aircanada.com.
If you are travelling soon, you can also contact our Customer Care team at 1-800-296-3408 or call your travel agent. If you are travelling in a group, please communicate with your Groups coordinator. Please understand that priority is being given to customers travelling within the next 72 hours.
Alternate Travel Plans
If you currently have a reservation between now and June 30, 2020 for a flight that was scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, we’ve implemented a policy that makes it possible for you to make voluntary changes to your itinerary within three (3) weeks of your original travel dates.
Customers and travel agents wishing to make voluntary changes, space permitting, to travel itineraries can call: 1-800-296-3408. If you are travelling in a group, please communicate with your Groups coordinator.
Can I change my reservation to fly on a different aircraft?
We have complied with Transport Canada’s safety notice closing Canadian airspace to Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operations so, until further notice, your flight will not be operated by the Boeing 737 MAX.
Will Air Canada Vacations cover my out-of-pocket expenses such as additional accommodation costs that I may incur as a result of these disruptions?
Our normal protocol for irregular events which are out of our control is in effect.
