Corona measure

Hygiene and protective measures

At Zurich Airport, we attach great importance to compliance with the instructions of the Federal Council regarding hygiene measures and social distancing. The most important measures from our protection plan are as follows:

  • Approximately 200 disinfectant dispensers at various locations
  • Ground markings for maintaining distance
  • Significant increase in cleaning schedules
  • Additional cleaning of contact surfaces (handrails on escalators, boxes at security checkpoints, luggage trolleys etc.)
  • Masks for employees, where distances cannot be maintained (e.g. security check)
  • Safety Stations by Selecta offer masks and disinfectants to ensure compliance with hygiene measures

Corona tests at the airport

For passengers arriving at Zurich Airport, there is currently no corona test requirement. Those who wish to be tested before or after a flight, can do so at the Airport Medical Center. Advance notification is required. The test evaluation takes between 24 and 48 hours. 
Certain airlines require a negative Covid-19 test for entry into the destination country. Please inform yourself about the regulations of your airline or destination country well in advance of your departure. 

Mandatory quarantine

People arriving in Switzerland from certain countries and areas are required to go into quarantine. The Swiss Federal Council informs which countries are affected and how the quarantine is to be implemented.

Protective masks

In accordance with the guidelines of the Federal Office of Public Health, there is currently no obligation to wear a protective mask at Zurich Airport. However, we actively encourage passengers to wear a mask wherever the distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. Situations may arise where the required distance cannot be maintained. We therefore urge passengers and visitors to have a mask with them when visiting the airport. Protective masks can be purchased at the following outlets at Zurich Airport:

  • Airport Shopping (Pharmacy, Migros etc.)
  • Airside: Duty Free Level 1 & 2, and in the Gate Stores
  • Selecta Safety Stations, located at the boarding pass screening in Terminals 1 and 2

Health checks

  • On arrival: No health check is currently required on arrival in Zurich.. Zurich Airport complies with the requirements of the Swiss Confederation. Zurich Airport complies with the requirements of the federal government. Passengers arriving from risk countries defined by the Confederation must go directly into quarantine upon arrival.   • On departure: A health check on departure may be carried out directly at the gate, if specified by the airline or the destination country. In this case, body temperature is measured at the gate using a hand-held thermometer. Further information is provided by the airlines.

Arrival in Zurich

On arrival in Zurich, we kindly ask you to wear the mask at the airport wherever the distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. People arriving in Switzerland from certain countries and areas are required to go into quarantine. Please check “Mandatory quarantine”

Departure from Zurich

Please inform yourself about the status of your flight before your departure. Due to the current restrictions, we kindly ask that you arrive at Zurich Airport on time.

Information for meeters and greeters

If there is a large number of people in the arrival halls, we also recommend that meeters and greeters wear a mask and ask them to follow the instructions of the Passenger Flow Managers.

Special Assistance

We continue to care for our passengers with reduced mobility (PRM). Where social distancing is not possible (transport from/to the gate, boarding), protective clothing (masks, gloves, aprons) will be used for both the protection of the passenger and others. Please note that you must always register your disability through your travel agency or airline, not via the airport.

The Service Center on the 1st floor of the public area is currently open from 06:00 h until 30 minutes after the last landing. (See location here)
The Airside Service Center is also open from 06:00 h – 18:00 h.The information desks in Arrival 1 & 2are still closed. Observation Deck B will open on 4th of July from 11:00 – 16:00 h

Our spotter sites will be open again for everyone as of Thursday, 28 May 2020.
