Commonly Asked Questions during COVID-19

Am I allowed to travel to/from YQR to other Canadian, U.S., or international destinations?

At this time, the Public Health Agency of Canada is advising all Canadians to avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan is advising Saskatchewan residents to limit non-essential travel outside of Saskatchewan.

For travellers to or from the U.S., there are border restrictions for all discretionary (non-essential) travel. Those who do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 are allowed to travel to or from the U.S. for non-discretionary purposes.

For those coming from other countries, the Government of Canada has issued an order that would deny boarding to any passenger who is not a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and certain foreign nationals. Canadian citizens and permanent residents are welcome to return home at any time, provided they have no symptoms of COVID-19.

If you are looking to travel to another country, please check with that country on their rules for travel.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, your airline will deny you from boarding an aircraft.

What flights does YQR have available to/from other destinations?

As of July 4th, 2020, Regina International Airport (YQR) has regular flights to and from Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto via Air Canada and WestJet. From those airports, you are able to connect to many other domestic and international destinations.

For international flights, the Government of Canada has limited all inbound and outbound international flights to 4 Canadian cities: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. So if you’re looking to travel out-of-country, you will want to look for connecting flights to/from YQR through Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton.

Do I need to quarantine/self-isolate when I arrive?

Every province and country has their own rules around who needs to quarantine or self-isolate when they arrive. Currently, in Canada, anyone arriving from outside of Canada must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

In Saskatchewan, travellers coming or returning from another Canadian province, who have not been outside the country for the last 14 days, are being asked to self-monitor, but you are not required to quarantine, provided you have no symptoms.

If you are travelling to another province or country, please check with that province or country on their rules for quarantine. There are some provinces in Canada that do require domestic travellers to quarantine upon arrival.

How can I change my flight or request a refund?

You need to contact your airline directly. We as an airport authority cannot help you with changes to flights or refunds. Please visit our Airlines page for contact information for your airline.

What can I expect to be different when I fly?

Masks: Transport Canada requires air passengers to have a non-medical mask or face covering to cover their mouth and nose during travel. Exceptions are children under 2 years old, people who have trouble breathing, and people who are unable to remove the mask without assistance.

Temperature Checks: Many airlines are taking the temperatures of passengers prior to allowing them to board their flight. However, starting later this year, CATSA will be taking temperatures of passengers prior to security screening.

Social Distancing: We ask that you maintain a physical distance between yourself and others of 6 ft/2m. In situations where you are unable to social distance, please put on your non-medical mask or face covering.

Can I have my biometrics taken at Regina International Airport?

The Canada Border Services Agency can only accept biometrics when landing on an international flight. They cannot accept appointments from the general public. However, Service Canada is making allowances for this due to their offices being closed due to COVID-19.
