Are the airports open?
Yes. Commercial Aviation passenger traffic is currently concentrated on both Milano Linate airport and on Terminal 1 of Milan Malpensa airport. Milano Malpensa Terminal 2, on the other hand, is temporarily closed.
In compliance with ENAC’s dispositions, access to Milano Malpensa Terminal 1 is regulated through unidirectional routes that control the flow of passengers to make travelers and staff stay at the airport as safe as possible. Consult the access maps to Terminal 1.
We recommend that you arrive at the airport in advance to ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with the necessary security measures.

Are there any limitations for international flights?
From July 9 to 31, all persons who – in the previous 14 days – traveled to or transited/stayed in the following countries are not allowed to enter Italy, namely: Armenia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bosnia Herzegovina, Chile, Kosovo, Kuwait, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Oman, Panama, Peru, Dominican Republic, Serbia. The only exception to this rule is for Italian citizens or nationals of EU and Schengen Member States, UK, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino or the Vatican City State and their close family members (cohabiting lineal relatives, spouse, civil or cohabiting partner), provided that they were resident in Italy since before July 9, 2020.
All persons traveling to Italy from any foreign location are required to provide the carrier, or law enforcement officers if they are stopped for checks, a self-declaration that can be downloaded here.
Travel to and from the following States shall not be subject to any limitations and passengers do not need to provide reasons for traveling: Member States of the European Union, Schengen Area Countries, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino and Vatican City State. From July 24, the only exception regards people entering Italy from Bulgaria or Romania, or those who have stayed/transited in Bulgaria or Romania in the last 14 days: these people will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Furthermore, travel to Italy is freely allowed, without having to justify their reasons for traveling, to the citizens of these countries, as well as foreign nationals residing in the above-mentioned States, and members of their household (spouse, civil or cohabiting partner, dependent children aged below 21 years, other dependent lineal relatives).
Lastly, from July 1, all restrictions on travel to Italy have also been lifted for foreign citizens residing in one of the following countries: Algeria, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, Montenegro, Morocco, New Zealand, Rwanda, Serbia, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay. In these cases, the reasons for traveling will no longer have to be provided. Passengers coming from these territories are still required to observe a 14-day quarantine period in self-isolation (see the exceptions on the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs website).
Travel to and from non-EU and non-Schengen States and territories shall remain prohibited, except for proven work or study reasons, absolute urgency, or for health reasons. In any case, you are allowed to return to your home, domicile, or legal residence.

If I buy a plane ticket and the flight is cancelled or rescheduled, what should I do?
For any information regarding airline policies in case of cancellation or rescheduling, we advise you to contact the airline with which you booked your flight or visit its official website.
Can I carry a cabin bag?
Yes, respecting the indications provided by each airline. For specific information regarding the dimensions allowed for your hand baggage, please contact the airline with which you made the reservation.
Are there any social distancing measures and health checks at the airport?
Ensuring the safety of passengers has always been a priority for us. For this reason, we have put in place a series of measures to allow the stay in airport environments according to the parameters of health safety.
All arriving and departing passengers will also be subjected to a body temperature check through thermoscanners installed at the various access points to the terminal.
To help you maintain safe distances during your stay at the airport, we have provided clear visual indications in the areas of greatest presence, through floor signs, signage, and monitors.
We advise you to check-in online and follow the information available so that you can always keep a safe distance of at least one meter during all operations at the airport (check-in, transit, boarding, landing, baggage claim, security checks, etc.).
We invite you to listen to the repeated voice announcements and, if necessary, to contact the airport staff present, who will be able to assist you.
Is it necessary to wear masks and gloves inside the terminal?
It is mandatory to wear a protective mask upon arrival and for the duration of your stay at the terminal. The use of gloves is not mandatory.
We recommend (as indicated by the authorities) to have a sufficient number of masks based on the entire duration of your journey.
In case of need, you can buy masks in the airport pharmacy or at the vending machines.
Are hand sanitizing gel dispensers available inside the airport?
Yes, sanitizing liquid dispensers are installed in different areas of the terminal to allow passengers to sanitize their hands during their stay at the airport.
You can also buy sanitizing products at the airport pharmacy or at the vending machines.
What sanitation procedures are in place at the airport?
Important cleaning and disinfection activities of airport environments are carried out several times a day.
In addition, special equipment was acquired, such as hydrogen peroxide atomizers, for disinfection of the various areas of the terminal, which is carried out at night.
If I have a fever, can I still fly? What happens in case of suspected infection for a passenger (e.g. temperature above 37.5° C)?
In compliance with the regulations in force, people with respiratory infection characterized by fever (over 37.5° C) must remain at home, contacting their family doctor and refraining from any type of travel.
If a passenger is found to have a body temperature above 37.5 °C, he/she will be checked by the health authorities.
I am arriving in Malpensa with a flight from abroad. Can I take another flight to another national or international destination?
Yes, airport transits are allowed. However, it is not possible to leave the airport area if you are coming from (or if you have stayed in the 14 days prior to transit in Italy) a country other than the following: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Hungary, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino, Vatican City State, United Kingdom.
I am a resident abroad, to reach the country where I usually live I have to pass through Italy through your airport. How should I behave?
Transit through Italy, from one foreign country to another, to return home along the fastest possible route and without intermediate stopovers that are not strictly necessary, is allowed.
I am resident in Italy, can I come back from abroad?
Yes. Travel to and from abroad continues to be permitted to return to your home, domicile, or legal residence.
Which businesses still open at the terminal? Are shops, bars, restaurants and car rentals open?
In compliance with the measures provided for in the regulations to prevent the risk of contagion and spread of COVID- 19 Milan Malpensa Airport Terminal 1 continues to operate in reduced mode. Read the updated list of the open restaurants, bars, and stores of Malpensa Terminal 1.
All car rental signs in Terminal 1 remain open to the public. We advise you to contact the car rental company to check the opening hours.
The schedules are consistent with the flight plan which, given the current phase, is subject to change.
Is it possible to stay overnight at the Sheraton Hotel or the Moxy Hotel?
All those who need to stay overnight near Malpensa airport can book one or more rooms at the Sheraton Hotel. The Moxy Hotel, instead, is temporarily closed.
Can I stay at the airport overnight?
No. During the night, the terminal is closed to the public to carry out the necessary daily sanitation procedures.
I am a passenger with reduced mobility, is it possible to request and obtain assistance during this period?
Of course. You will receive assistance from qualified personnel, equipped at all times with personal protective equipment and through sanitized devices after each use.
In order to guarantee the assistance you need, we ask you to book in advance the assistance service for passengers with reduced mobility through the airline with which you travel at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure of your flight.
I need to reach Malpensa, by what means is it possible to do so?
The Milan Malpensa airport can currently be reached by car, by bus, by taxi, and by train.
The Malpensa Express service to and from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 is provided seven days a week on both Milano Centrale-Malpensa Airport and Milano Cadorna-Malpensa Airport connections, linking the airport with the main railway stations of Milan (Milano Bovisa, Milano Cadorna, Milano P.ta Garibaldi, Milano Centrale). From June 15, TILO railway connection with Varese and Ticino and all bus connections between Malpensa and Milano Centrale station are also operational. All bus and coach connections with other destinations may be subject to suspensions or changes in their schedules.
When I arrive with my flight at the airport, can I take public transport?
If you land in Malpensa from another Italian Region, all EU Member States, Schengen Area Countries, UK, Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino, and Vatican City State, you can use any public transport to reach your destination.
If you return to Italy from foreign countries other than those listed above (or if you visited one of these countries in the 14 days prior to your arrival in Italy), however, you will not be able to use public transport to move from the airport to your final destination, but you will have to use a private means of transport.

What security measures are in place inside airport buses?
During the boarding phase, when using the shuttle, we have set a maximum number of passengers to ensure the distance of at least one meter. Passengers are required to wear the mask at all times.
Is the shuttle service connecting Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 currently available?
Yes. The bus shuttle service is free and operates every day from 5:00 a.m. to 00:00 a.m. with a frequency of about 20 minutes.
What forms do I need to fill out before leaving? Is self-certification always necessary?
Following the provision of the Ministry of Health (protocol 21870 of June 23, 2020) and ENAC dispositions, airlines require passengers to fill in a self-certification form:
- to declare that they have not had close contacts with people with COVID-19 disease in the 2 days before the onset of symptoms and up to 14 days after the onset of symptoms,
- to commit to communicating to the airline and the competent territorial Health Authority the onset of COVID-19 symptoms within 8 days from disembarking the aircraft, for traceability of contacts.
Theself-declaration must be completed and handed over to the carrier before departure. We, therefore, recommend that you contact the airline to verify the need to complete and deliver the above form before boarding.
Travel between the Italian Regions and those to and from the European Union Member States, Schengen Area Countries, United Kingdom, Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City State is permitted, without the need to certify the reasons for travel.

I return to Italy from abroad, do I have to do a self-isolation period?
Passengers coming from European Union Member States, Schengen Area Countries, United Kingdom, Andorra, Principality of Monaco, Republic of San Marino and the Vatican City State are no longer subject to fiduciary isolation unless they have stayed in different countries during the 14 days prior to entering Italy. From July 24, the only exception regards people entering Italy from Bulgaria or Romania, or those who have stayed/transited in Bulgaria or Romania in the last 14 days: these people will still be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Self-isolation for 14 days remains obligatory if you travel to Italy from any other territory.

Can passengers with a residence permit return to Italy?
Yes. Travel to and from abroad is in any case allowed for passengers who return to their home, domicile or legal residence, even if of non-Italian nationality.
Are there open parking spaces at the airport?
Following the COVID-19 health Emergency, P6 Smart car park is temporarily closed. All the car parks closer to Malpensa Terminal 1, and P5 Easy car parks, which is close to Malpensa Terminal 2, are currently open.
A free Airport Shuttle Bus Service connects P5 Easy car park with Malpensa Terminal 1. The service operates every day between 5:00 am and 00:00 am with a frequency of about 20 minutes. At Malpensa Terminal 2, the shuttle service stop is located at the sidewalk in front of the parking entrance. At Malpensa Terminal 1, the shuttle bus stops on Floor – 1, in front of the Sheraton Hotel.

Can I change the parking dates?
Yes. The service of changing the parking dates of your reservation is FREE. The number of changes is unlimited, as long as they are always made no later than 6 hours before the entrance to the car park.
How to change your booking:
• Access the MY PURCHASE section on the home page of viamilanoeshop.eu;
• Enter your e-mail address and the purchase code you received in the purchase confirmation communication;
• Click on the button, select the new parking period, proceed to the parking space replacement, and confirm the change. In case of reservation on Linate, you can also choose to change the departure airport with Malpensa and vice versa.
If the rate is different from your previous reservation, you will only pay the difference between the new and the old rate.
I bought a parking space online, but my flight was cancelled. What options do I have?
In case of flight cancellation or rescheduling, we recommend proceeding with the free change of the ViaMilano Parking reservation (with the possibility of unlimited changes with respect to the airport, type of parking, and dates).
If your booking includes parking within 15 September 2020, you could also request a voucher for the value of your parking, valid for one year from the date of issue.
To request a voucher, send an email to infoeshop@seamilano.eu attaching all the necessary documentation to support the resolution of your file (e.g. e-ticket of the purchased car park, flight cancellation document).

I would like to cancel a parking reservation for the next few months, how can I do that?
In case you have decided to cancel your trip, we recommend you to proceed with the free change of the ViaMilano Parking reservation date.
