Before your flight
At Singapore Changi Airport, as well as most airports around the world, you will find hand sanitisers available at common areas for your use. High-touch surfaces such as baggage trays are cleaned and disinfected more frequently. Passengers and staff alike are required to undergo temperature screening, practise safe distancing, and wear a face mask based on local regulatory requirements.
In addition, here are some changes to your travel experience that you should take note of.
Complete a health declaration
You may be asked to complete a basic health declaration and provide your travel history at the airport. If you are entering Singapore, you should submit an electronic health declaration up to three days before your flight.
Check in online
To minimise contact, we recommend that you check in online or via the SingaporeAir mobile app 48 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure. If you are departing from Singapore, you may use the app to generate your mobile boarding pass and print your bag tags at the self-service kiosks at selected airports.
Pre-order your duty-free shopping
Inflight shopping has been suspended, so you may wish to place your orders on KrisShop.com to have your purchases delivered directly to your home or seat on board the aircraft.
SilverKris Lounge at Changi Airport Terminal 3
All Suites, First Class, and Business Class passengers, as well as PPS Club members and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, have access to our SilverKris Lounge (Business Class) at Changi Airport Terminal 3. All our other lounges are temporarily closed. In place of a buffet, à la carte meals are served at the lounge. All magazines and newspapers have also been removed. However, you may still enjoy complimentary access to over 150 publications via our e-Library on the SingaporeAir mobile app. If you are a PPS Club member, Suites, First Class or Business Class passenger transiting through Singapore Changi Airport, you can access the premium waiting area in your designated transit holding area instead.
On board
For the safety of our passengers, our cabin crew will be wearing masks throughout the flight, as well as goggles or eye visors when interacting with passengers. Gloves are worn when serving meals.
We have also simplified our in-flight service to comply with regulatory requirements, as well as to minimise onboard interaction.
SIA Care Kit
You will receive a complimentary kit containing a face mask, hand sanitiser, and anti-bacterial wipes for your well-being. Additional anti-bacterial wipes are also available upon request.
Designated seating zones
There will be dedicated seating zones on board to separate transit passengers from non-transit passengers. You are required to stay in your designated zone throughout the flight.
Meal service changes
Due to regulatory requirements, if you are on a flight within Southeast Asia or to Mainland China, you will be offered a snack bag instead of a meal tray. For all other flights, meal services have been simplified. Alcoholic offerings have also been adjusted across all cabin classes.
Sanitised cabin environment
Even before you board, the aircraft is thoroughly cleaned, with extra care taken to sanitise common surfaces. On top of that, we also clean the lavatories more often throughout your flight with high-strength disinfectants.
Clean air and fresh linens
Every aircraft in the Singapore Airlines Group fleet is equipped with HEPA* filters, which remove more than 99.9% of the microbes in the air. Cabin air is also refreshed every two to three minutes throughout the flight. Similarly, you can be assured of fresh linens on every flight. We replace headsets, headrest covers, pillow covers, bedsheets and blankets after every flight. Linens are also washed at high temperatures to disinfect them after every use.
Promoting a contactless journey
You may use the SingaporeAir mobile app to remotely control your KrisWorld inflight entertainment system. The app also provides complimentary access to an extensive e-Library with over 150 publications. We recommend that you download your preferred publications before your flight.
We have removed all seatback literature, and temporarily suspended the distribution of children’s amenities and arrival cards, to minimise your contact with physical surfaces for a safer journey.
More you can do to protect yourself
Here are some additional measures you can take to safeguard your health during your journey.
Personal hygiene
Wash your hands regularly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Hand sanitisers are freely available in Changi Airport, and are included in the SIA Care Kit that will be given to you during boarding. Do use them to keep your hands clean whenever soap and water are not available. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue paper when you cough or sneeze. Dispose of the used tissue paper immediately and wash your hands.
Contactless travel
While we have implemented measures to minimise your contact with physical objects and surfaces on your journey with us, we would also recommend that you make use of the SingaporeAir mobile app to check in online, print your own baggage tags, download reading material, and more. For your own safety, do avoid touching your mouth, eyes and nose as much as possible.
Wear face masks
All passengers above the age of two must wear a face mask throughout the flight due to regulatory requirements. The mask may be removed when eating and drinking. Although a face mask is provided in the complimentary SIA Care Kit, you may wish to bring extra masks to ensure that you have sufficient supply for your journey. Replace the face mask once it is damp, and do not reuse single-use masks. Before you dispose of your face mask, wrap it in tissue paper or put it in a plastic bag and seal tightly before disposing of it in a closed bin. Remember to wash your hands afterwards.
If you feel unwell, seek help immediately.
In most airports, you will be screened for signs of illnesses and asked to declare your health status. If you feel unwell before your flight, consult a doctor and rest at home. If you start to feel ill during your flight, let us know immediately. Our cabin crew have been trained to take care of you.
